Some new items

Ok, it's been WAY too long ang yes, I've bought a few "items" in the past few months. But lawd hep me, I'm lazee and it takes a long time to put on clothes, take pics, download pics, write blog and upload pics.So sue me.

Here are, in no particular order:

1. An outfit I call "secretary sexy" I bought this week. It was on supa-sale and I love love love the skirt, which has POCKETS!

2. The dress I bought for a work party that may or may not include celebrities such as : Corey Haim - oh la la

3. The belt my mother is proud to have handed over to me, from her original 80s collection. Cuddles said, "it's actually cool" in a very surprised way. To be honest, I was just as suprised to suddenly like this belt. I've seen it for decades in my mom's closet and never paid any attention.

4. The spur-of-the-moment jacket. I don't usually buy anything spur of the moment, but this caught my eye. It def looks better in person, and the "fur" is removable and I wil remove it. It's really warm and I love it, so don't burst my bubble! Also, it has brown corderoy patches on the elbows! Heart! It's a bit of a throw back style, with a modern edge.

can i tuck?

So the high waist is slowly coming back. What do you think of this look with the "tuck"? Can I get away with it? Or stick with untucked, which I think looks a little messy.

Black or White or Nada?!

Dilemma time again. Two pairs of shoes. Can only keep one. What do you think? I couldn't decide in the store so I got them both, but now trying them on at home I'm not sure I like either. I like the white color and the little heel but don't like the toe part. I like the black toe part but I think I need a heel?! HELP!!!!

Am I too Old for this top?

The person who I was shopping with - seemed to think this top was not age appropriate for a 30 something year old woman. I disagreed but did not buy it. I did, however, use the "Dressing Room Cam" to take a photo and get a second opinion! Any thoughts?

What's wrong with this outfit?

Is it the shoes? the tights? the undershirt? Can I leave my house looking like this?

Another Jewish Holiday, another post revolving around socks!

My husband thinks this is a totally inappropriate use of sock wearing. He thinks I should be embarassed to leave the house like this, let alone travel to another country. This is my "travel outfit" I don't like going barefoot to the airport because you have to take your shoes off to go through security.

Is this passable or should I rethink my travel outfit?

The Present

I am not sure which is scarier.

1. That Cuddles' mom saw this shirt and bought it immdiately thinking "this is SO HICK!"

2. That this shirt was designed, colour chosen and approved for manufacture

3. That I might have to wear it one day... is one expected to wear gifts in front of the sender?

Cuddles' comment was "how soon can you get it to the Salvation Army"?
Here is the shirt witha close-up on the feathery detail, which, I may add, it quite itchy when touching skin.

The "no jeans" week, or : Polley gets dumped.

Well all I have started my new jobberoo and the first week went okey-dokey. Some of you may have heard that at this new office, we are not allowed to wear jeans. For others who have not, pick up your jaw, it is a sad and true fact and I would not joke about such pressing matters.

Let it be noted that I used to wear jeans to work 3-4 times a week. We shall call this fact "Polley".

Because of Polley, I do not have many pant-choices and Polley, being my good and loyal friend would always make any top look good, especially when I was wearing my "hot" jeans.

Superstar asked me to keep a visual diary of my week, during which Polley was dumped. She, it may be noted has been walking around all week, weepy and snot-nosed, begging me to come back to her. It's a little pathetic actually, and I am for the first time seeing the possible err of my ways. "How could i have ever gone out with such a mess of a fact?" That sort of thing.

Looking at these images, though, I realise more than ever that I need to do a SERIOUS clothes shop, and look for new work clothes. These non-jeanated work clothes shall henseforth be named "Vicky Snazz". My new BFF.

I am wondering if the outfits looked that bad and bland, or if my method of picture taking is just super-unflaterring. I missed 2 days of the week, during which time I'm sure my outfits were "off the hook". Too bad I forgot to take pics. Also, in order to get into the shot, I bent my knees, which makes the pants look shorter and wider that in real life.

Without further ago : Vicky Snazz

I think this was Tuesday, the pants are actually really nice, brown tweedy and the top is a black turtleneck.
I realised at the end of Vicky Snazz week how much black I wore. And when I had a look around a few shops last week, I can honestly say that winter clothes don't really come in bright colours.
I was wanting something with a little more zap-zowie, as hubba would put it.

Wednesday; I bought this top while at my last work place and then I saw another employee wearing it before I ever got a chance to. Bah!

Well, finally the little purple top got a chance to shine. The pants are wool based dress pants, gray and good quality.

Friday : to my dismay, I discovered that Fridays are "casual Fridays" and I could have had an affair with Polley, if someone had TOLD ME!
This picture does not do this top justice. It is not "see through" as it appears in this pic. The flash shows the off-white tank top underneath, but it's not really like that. It's really cute and the tie is a nice touch.

Ok, the pants aren't great, but I only have a few pairs that don't belong to Polley.

This outfit definitely looked better IRL than here, but what can ya do?
So that was 3 days of week 1 of new job. Once I go shopping, I think I'll re-pose a revised and hopefully more exciting, renovated version of Vicky Snazz!

Is this a dress or an Apron

I couldn't resist. I found a dress by my latest designer obsession and it was on sale and my friend said it was "cute" ("not super cute, but cute") and it was in my favorite color and it has polka dots.

I bought it but it's returnable, so I can decide if it's worth keeping.
What do you think? Is it a little to dowdy? Or is it okay as a fun cotton summer dress?

What should I wear to a Luau?

Coconuts and and a grass skirt are most appropriate, but if you are not brave enough for that, you need to find the brightest, boldest, floraliest pattern and cover your body with as much of it as possible.

Below are the outfits we chose:

To tuck or untuck?

Inspired by Hubba Bubba's Last post - I had an interview and put together this outfit. I don't have many interviews or anything dressing "casual conservative" is not so much my forte. So my big question is to TUCK OR UNTUCK? I started out tucked. But I felt all binded and within minutes of leaving the house had to untuck. Is that wrong?

That's My Man!

This sexy boyfriend is sporting an oversize T-shirt from Mexico, which he received as a gift from my mother. The pants are from Simons, I got them in Montreal. For some reason, his hot ass was not too enthused about a cameo in this blog, therefore I got the finger.

When he comes over, he immediately changes into these pyjamas, which are stored permanently chez moi. Sometimes, he asks permission. It's cute.

How to wear a white blouse

I bought myself a new white blouse. It has been a while since I had one.

I always liked the idea of the sweater vest but never had one. I am not quite sure this one fits the bill, but I have 30 days to decide.

How about this sweater? How does this go together? Do we like this look? Do you hate this sweater? My boyfriend hates the black and white checkered look. It's too busy for him. Now that he's said that, I'm not sure I can wear it. I think I still like it though... maybe I just won't wear it around him.

I just couldn't help myself. I had to try all my sweaters over the white blouse. I like the length of this sweater and the buttons.

Et finallement, I tried the white blouse under a thin sweater. I like the way it looks in the picture. My problem is that you can see the seams and button lines through the sweater! Is this really problematic? Is it still OK?

I need to know how to wear the white blouse!

Jelly's are back!

And I want a pair!

What do you think?

I know they say if you've done it the first time around you should probably not do it again. But these are so cute! (The girl I was working with let me photograph her feet so I could show you how great the shoes are!) And the Jelly's that I had in 1986 were pink. These ones are blue!

Anyone have an extra $10,000?

So last night Cuddles and I watched "The Devil Wears Prada" and I'm not going into the whole convo but at some point he said "Man she looked HOT in those clothes!" meaning, when Anne Hathaway makes the transformation from bulky Gap sweater to chic Dolce & Gabanna model. For the rest of the movie she walks around in impossibly expensive clothes with supa-high heels.

Yes, she looks hot, and expensive, and maybe a little uncomfortable.

Looking at one's wardrobe after watching such a movie is like eating a Tic Tac to satisfy a chocolate ice cream craving. It just doesn't cut it.

Not sure I can do anything about that though, and definitely made myself feel better by telling Cuddles that if I pranced around in those outfits on a daily basis, he would think I was one low-cut, bollowy-dress, cinched-at-the-waist-with-a-ridiculously-large-belt wearing freak. I think it worked in the movie because EVERYONE was dressed that way. But in the context of "normal" work? Well... what do you think...

Dammit, she does look good.
